Apart from having great wines, Golan Heights Winery give amazing tours around the place. A one hour tour costs 40 shekels per person with a
private guide for as many people as you wish. Don't worry, the tour is private and
doesn't include people you may not know. During the tour the guide takes you to
the dark barrels storage where wine matures and being kept until it is being
transferred into bottles. Then you're taking to the bottle factory where you can
observe how factory workers do their job. And the most enjoyable part of the
tour is the wine tasting, where the guide leads you to the wine shop and shows many different kinds of wine and lets you try them.
Another added value for the little money that is spent on the tour, is a relaxing rest overlooking the astounding Golan Heights accompanied with a cheese plate and a bottle of
red wine. The view is breath- taking and one can sit there for hours (they let
you sit there as long as you wish). The green mountains, grazing sheep, horses running around, the warm wind on your skin and soft music in the background makes the visit feel like a scene from a movie.
To convince
you to go there even more, the highlight of the tour is that you get two
glasses of wine with two small bottles of your choice.
Overall,
sitting in front of the view and getting (a little) drunk was an outstanding
experience and very romantic too!. I highly recommend stopping at the winery if you're visiting Golan Heights.
As an ex-bar tender, my father is realy intrested in wine. I think you just gave me an idea for a birthday gift. Thanks!
